Finally, Incal is in graphic novel format! I prefer collection over singles, and besides, #1 & #2 are impossible to get.I ordered the graphic novel in October because I knew it was coming out early November. However, about a month & 1/2 has gone by & it's still unclear what's going on. This book is already published & out at your local comic book shop. I've been told it's 'backordered' here (along with other graphic novels), but was not told what date they expect it & they have no other information. It's very frustrating. However, if you are a serious collector, you know how quickly comics go out of print, so just beware if you decide to order...The art is impecable & strange & will be a nice edition to any collection. I imagine, that with Jodowsky being the author, thatthe story line won't be totally linear & may be difficult to get through, but I love the sensibilities of European comix writer/artists, so I'm looking forward to finally getting my hands on it.my recommendations: anything by Enki Bilal, Neil Gaiman, and Pierre Dubois. If you go to Belgium, there are alot of wonderfulgraphic novel/albums you just can't get in the States.
One of the best comic books ever

Even when the story was written around 1980, "The Incal" has never ceased to amaze me. Jodorowsky gives us a humoruous, breathtaking iniciatic sci-fi tale and Moebius introduces us into a futuristic world like no other else. Perhaps you've catched a glimpse of this world by watching the movie "The fifth element", in which Jean Giraud (Moebius) participated as a designer. You'll probably feel familiar with many plots and sub-plots as you read, since many artists got their inspiration (or simply copied the ideas right away) from this comic.I had the luck to see Moebius when he came to my country, and i was able to look at (and, when no one was looking, touch !) some of the original drawings of The Incal. There aren't almost any differences between the originals and the book.If you want to have a piece of the best of the european comic, a real classic, you'll have to collect the whole Incal series. You won't regret it. And beware ! By reading it, you'll face the risk of learning some things about yourself.

Moebius and Jodorowsky make a perfect team. Jodorowsky had a clear vision of what he wanted to say in the Incal, and it keeps the narrative free from the numerous dead-ends and noodling story line that marred Moebius' visually brillant and highly imaginative but ultimately unsatisfying Airtight Garage.
