Entertaining, fun and breezy!

Shaw's sophomore effort is every bit as satisfying as "The Impossible Texan," but with a quirky twist that adds an extra element of fun. Revisiting the "ever after" of a familiar character from "Texan," we find Deborah Edgerton still trying to put a humiliating episode behind her and build a new life. Lured to a strange place by what she thinks is a job offer, Edgerton finds herself unwillingly married to the aptly-named "Trick" O'Connor before you can say "I do." Even after you've absorbed this wild plot element that kicks off the novel, the surprises keep coming - with exotic settings, delicious love scenes, funny repartee and sharply drawn characters you'll be thinking about for a long time to come. I loved it!

An excellent read

I enjoyed this novel very much. It was fast paced and fun, and the love scenes were absolutely phenomenal. Allie Shaw writes the kind of romance I like to read. I recommend this book highly.

Fabulously Fun to Read

This fast-paced novel kept me smiling from begining to end. Ms. Shaw knows how to weave a unique tale that's intricate and oh, so exciting. Loved it!

Witty, sexy and unique plot equals lots of fun

Patrick O'Connor has promised his son a mother by his sixth birthday. Deborah Edgerton is running away from her scandalous past. She is the perfect candidate for an unorthodox shotgun wedding. What neither expects is that they are also perfect for each other. Allie Shaw has crafted a wonderful novel of two damaged souls who find love in the most unlikely of circumstances. Throw in a dangerous journey to search for a legendary red pearl, a cast of great secondary characters, and you have a well-stirred mixture of love and adventure that follows.

entertaining western romance

Deborah Edgerton takes the train from Austin to Galveston to work as secretary to O'Connor Exporting and companion to an older woman. Meeting her at the station is Patrick "Trick" O'Connor who informs her he is the Pat who has corresponded with her and her previous employer Senator Maxwell. The news stuns Deborah who thought Pat was female, but not as much as when Pat ties her hands together. Abducting Deborah, they journey by coach to his ranch where he forces her to marry him.Trick feels a bit guilty for his actions, but he promised his little boy that he would provide him a new mother before the lad turned six. Tomorrow is Duncan's sixth birthday so Trick tricked Deborah into keeping his vow. However, he expected a compliant mouse, but got instead an intelligent gutsy woman. As they fall in love, both fear commitment, but a special jewel of a boy plays matchmaker though his efforts seem wasted on the obstinate adults chasing a different gem.THE IMPOSSIBLE BRIDE is an entertaining western romance that takes the reader on a picturesque tour of the nineteenth century Galveston area. The cast shows depth especially the protagonists and Duncan, enabling the audience to appreciate their reluctance to embrace love. The jewel chase provides plenty of adventure, yet appears unnecessary and even diverting as Allie Shaw already had established a powerful relationship drama that grabbed the attention of the audience while overcoming the initial abduction logic. Still the book engages readers who want the best for the lead triangle.Harriet Klausner
