The Best Biography of Dr Seuss to Date

Stuart Levine clearly has mastered the subject matter and demonstrated the ability to look beneath the surface to uncover the true Dr. Seuss. This book surpasses Stuart Levine's earlier works.. The Tiger and The Elephant... also must reads

The Whys Behind the Seuss Popularity

This is a soft-pedeled and comprehensive look into the life and the accomplishments of "Dr. Seuss". Photos and time line and index are excellent for the elementary researcher, as well as a quick check read for high schoolers. Since the subject is so popular, this is a must-have book to balance the realities of the author with the massive use of his body of work. The connections of his German heritage to his propaganda films and cartoons may be felt, the death/suicide of his first wife is appropriately not dwelled upon, and so the positive focus of this book remains upon the author's output, right up to the present. This is an important and useful tool for any school library.
