Humanistic Confucianism

Shihan Nakamura is a unique man. He has mastered a very disciplined physical art.In the service of this mastery which for some may appear very brutal externally he places self -mastery ,service,filail piety and compassion.This is a very unique book which belongs in your library with Lin Yutang and other works on "Oriental Philosophy." Mr. Nakamura is a man with a mission .He is very clear that physical skill and self defense are only external outgrowths of a life of self-discipline and humility .His autobiography is directly in line with Gichin Funakoshi epitomizing the ability to transcend self to aid others.This book is fun and not at all didactic. I know from personal experience as do thousands of others reaching back to his American beginnings in the Brooklyn Academy Of Music that this "Teacher" lives his message and illuminates the lives of those who come in contact with him.
