As a mother of two young children I read my little ones a bedtime story every night. Most of them are bland childrens books that often bore me to tears but The House That Sailed Away, by Pat Hutchins, was a hoot! Not only did my children absolutely love this humourous tail but I did. The characters are laugh out loud hillarious, especially the sherry loving grandma and the ditzy mother. This is the only childrens book I've ever read that managed to crack me up as well as the kids. Highly recommended!
Adventure on the High Seas

It had rained every day since Grandma had come to visit Mother, Father, Morgan, the baby and Tailcat. Then, while they were all huddled indoors, something that positively doesn't happen every day did happen: the house began to shudder and rock. 'Good heavens!'shrieked Grandma, as her chair rolled across the room. 'We're floating down Willow Road!' And so they were. The adventure includes pirates, buried treasure, cannibals and the Cook's Coach and Paddle Boat Mystery Tour. It is searingly funny and well paced.
