In the middle of the Egyptian revolution 2011, Amina receives the most devastating news. Her only son has been killed in the fights. Her grief and depression is all consuming and sometimes she even is questioning Allmighty God and his reasons for this cruel event.In these difficult times she gets an unexpected guest. A young girl, who seemingly has been badly abused in the upheavals in the city. The girl is in grave shock, does not speak and has no identification papers. Much against Amina's will, circumstances oblige her to take the girl in and to care for her. By the time she starts to recover Amina has got attached to her, and soon asks her to stay. Amina's maid, Karima, has marital problems and with her two small daughters seek her help.Amina's estate in the Fayoum has been badly mismanaged by a relative and is on the brink of bankruptcy. The three women decide to move there and work the farm themselves. As farmwork is unknown for them they have to fight many obstacles before they begin to achieve anything. In this situation a fourth young girl, Mariam, is thrust upon them.
