Lucid, scholarly, readable: The House of Islam

Kenneth Cragg has the gift of using his profound understanding of Islam to present his knowledge for the average westerner. He is sympathetic, but also judicious. He is complete, but succinct. The language and sentence structure are "delicious." The reader gains an understanding of Islam, its roots, its beliefs, its growth and change over the centuries, its practice and the problems currently facing its believers. At this time, when Islam is in the media daily, usually in a negative and distorted report, this book is an excellent antidote to prejudice and exaggerations.
