fine ranch romance

New to Wesley Junior and Senior High School, science and social studies schoolteacher Regan Flynn wants to do a good job with her students as she is a dedicated professional. However, the first parent she meets is horse rancher Will Bishop when she caught his daughter Kylie smoking. She asks if he would sell her a horse, but he informs her she is too late as he has only one left in stock and that steed hates women having been abused by a female owner. The horse trainer and the teacher are attracted to one another although he fears seeing someone seriously after hiding the truth from Kylie re her mom Desiree. They begin to date, but a disciplinarian PE teacher objects with her going out with the father of one of her students causing her problems with the administration and the parents; and his daughter misbehaves as she has problems with her dad dating anyone including her teacher. The key to this contemporary romance is the negative reactions of other people to the relationship between Regan and Will. Kylie steals the show as she fears that her father will neglect her like her mother does and eventually be hurt when the adult relationship collapses as marriages start with a bang but end with a whimper. Although fans may doubt that this couple will make it into next week, THE HORSEMAN'S SECRET is a fine ranch romance. Harriet Klausner

Wild Horses and the men who ride them...

Will Bishop is a horseman who is devoted his life's work to training horses with problems. He is also a single father raising a twelve year old daughter, Kylie who is a handful. Kylie starts junior high with a bang, and Will is called to school to deal with his daughter's first transgression. When he meets Regan Flynn, Will finds himself attracted to the woman, and finds himself reconsidering his no dating rule. Regan believes Kylie is a good person and is keeping her friends from getting in trouble but her father is the one who might get Regan in trouble. As a teacher, her behaviour is constantly being watched and when she throws caution to the wind and gets involved with a student's father, she has to pay the consequences. Can Will and Regan get past the secrets from his past, Kylie and the school board to make their very own family? Jeannie Watt has penned a novel filled with secrets and drama from days gone by. While her secrets may have been created in the past, they are shaping the life of Kylie and keeping Will from being totally open with Regan. When the secrets threaten to spill out, Will shows his true colors by opening up to Regan and letting the past stop dictating the future. Will's ability to train horses without anger and his desire to protect his daughter at his own expense makes him a perfect hero. He is strong and sensitive and is a cowboy to boot! Regan is a teacher, helping to shape young minds, she is a wonderful woman who tries to do the best by Kylie, and who knows she is setting herself up for heartbreak, yet lets lust and her heart take over in making the critical decisions. Between Regan and Will there is a perfect match, throw in Kylie however and the two must decide almost before they find lust whether true love is in their future. The drama between the two of them must come through the stages fast, and Ms. Watt has created a true set of characters that make this story work. This reviewer truly enjoyed this novel, but what really stood out in her mind was Ms. Watts use of animals and their needs to shape the personalities of her characters. The animals that each character falls for, shows their true nature. For this reviewer what made the story was when Will let Kylie's horse join the wild horses instead of being sold to a meat packer, this scene brought tears to this woman's eyes.
