nicely developed story

I liked this book, even though I don't usually read the christian novelists. The characters were well developed, and the story kept me interested. I am ready for the next installment!

Great Reading

This is the first book of a great series. I have so enjoyed all of the four books in this series You really get attached to the family and grow to love all of them.

I loved it so much, I cannot wait to start the nex book in the series.

The book is very inspiring and shows the strength of a very young woman during the Great Depression to hold her family together. She overcomes the odds many times and always gives God the credit for bringing her family through. Very well written.

One of his best!

I like Gilbert Morris' books, but he is usually pretty predictable and therefore not my favorite author. This book was really interesting, the plot not so predictable, and generally gave me that "warm, fuzzy feeling". My friend felt the same way and was the one who recommended that I read this book. I enjoyed the fact that the first book in this series did not finish Lanie's story and move on to the next person with the next book. That gets a little old and less believable since real life doesn't move that fast. So basically, I can't WAIT to read the next book in this series! I would say that this is one of his best books. I loved it!

good book!

Very good--- I've read a lot of Gilbert Morris books and this one wasn't so predictable. It had some depth and leaves you with a nice ending that makes you want to read the next one. After reading several other christian novelists i'd have to say Morris is the best.
