Nothing New Under the Sun, Saith the Preacher

Page 107 yields this gem: "Galaxy: A true Star Trek game complete in every respect. Your mission is to destroy some number of Klingons in a specified number of star dates. Seven commands permit three levels of scanning, movement in 16 different directions at 64 different speeds. Phasers and Photon Torpedoes as weapons and energy transfers to the shields in battle. Star Bases are available for reprovisioning between battles." Probably some readers in 1978 were led to conclude that reprovisioning is a need for game-world spaceships. "Hmm ... maybe more RAM would increase the range ..." What's funny to me is that no matter the bit-graphics or frames-per-second, advertising for games in any age emphasizes the convincing feel of reality. At last! This is what it's really like! You definitely want to buy this book, if only to convince your future grandkids that it was a long road to such innovations as Tactile Sumo Physics on the Holo-deck.
