Sober account of a young Catholic priest's sexual identity crisis

Well written and developed novel about a newly ordained priest who tries to cope with his maturing sexuality in the exotic, totally alien society of 1950's Brazil, which he apparently chose as an escape from his native Italy. The conflict between his religious vocation and the sexual identity development crisis caused by his inhibited adolescence is well depicted. Recommended reading for those interested in gaining insight into the problems inherent to the mainstream Catholic priesthood.

Fictional account of a Priests struggle with his Sexual Identity, and the role the Catholic Church p

A Must Read Novel, "The Hills of Triumph" Fictional depiction of a Priest's view of dealing with his sexual desires and sexual identity. It's an extremely well written novel for the intellectual reader with an open mind. You have never read a book about the homosexual tendencies of Priests, like this. It brings this disturbing subject to light in a fascinating way. I believe it questions the Catholic Church's policy regarding the fact that Priests are forbidden to marry. Are the seminaries the breeding grounds for pediphiles? I don't at all feel that the authors' intention was for the reader to condone this type of behavior; but to understand its roots and how deep they actually are. Synopsis: This is the confession of a priest who has entered the religious profession aware of his inadequacy and short comings. His twelve years of seminary may have aggravated if not caused his homosexual tendencies. To better cope with his problem he chooses to be assigned overseas - Brazil of the 1950s - where he hopes he will be able to function, if not thrive in spite of his problem. His miscalculation of the risks involved is apparent from the very beginning, when all he faces spells seduction and maladjustment. The explicit sexual content of the story is presented in good taste and is deemed relevant due to the timeliness of the subject. Read it; it's pretty deep stuff.
