The Highly Adaptable Gospel: A Journey Through the Life of H. Baxter Liebler

The Highly Adaptable Gospel is the first biography of H. Baxter Liebler as told through the writings, words and photos of his family — as he moved from a childhood of material wealth and spiritual poverty to a life of spiritual wealth and material poverty. Fr. Liebler nurtured a mission in Connecticut as a priest in the forefront of the Anglo-Catholic movement in the Episcopal Church from 1918 to 1943. In 1943, he moved to Utah and founded St. Christopher's Mission to the Navajo near Bluff. The Highly Adaptable Gospel describes how he prepared himself for mission work and where he got his ideas for a holistic mission. He showed how adaptable the Gospel is when a missionary is properly prepared, and is willing to love and serve people patiently while the Gospel works within another culture. Inspiring lives

The book chronicles one man's burning desire to share Christ's message translated for another culture, another time. It contains inspiring lives of service, courage, and acceptance. It forms a gold ring setting for Father Liebler's own book, Boil My Heart for Me. I recommend them both.
