This is the story of Peter and Davy who set out to get their mother a birthday present. Although they have very little money, they manage to collect things that they put together to make the gift. Its a sweet story and as a 4 year old I thought it was the most hilarious story ever written! The pictures portray the main action plus the antics of mischievous little brother Davy. I loved this book as a child and so did my children.
The Happy Birthday Present

?The Happy Birthday Present? is about two little boys who want to get their mother a birthday present. They go around town to each and every shop to find her one. But they end up not having more then a dime to spend, and use that and some of the things the store workers give them for free, to make their mother the best birthday present ever. The age level for this book would be around 5-8 years of age. A lesson this book teaches is ?it?s the thought that counts.? Meaning, you don?t have to buy your mother, (or anyone else) the most expensive gift. You should just get, or make, whatever you are able to, and know that the person will love it just because you thought of them. I thought this was a good book for younger children to read.
