Well Done

I highly recommend this book. Some are hesitant to read a book about such a horrible tragedy, especially one involving children. But the author did a magnificent job of re-telling the events of that day. This story is not so much about tragedy as it is about true faith and forgiveness. The Amish rose to the occasion, not only forgiving the man who killed their children, but aiding his widow, understanding that she was also suffering terrible grief. This book is told from the standpoint of one of the survivors of the shooting and I found it comforting to know that during those 30 minutes while the shooter was in control of the school, she felt a calm come over her, one that can only be explained by the presence of God.

A must read on forgiveness

This book helped me understand the forgiveness the Amish gave after the Nickel Mine School tragedy. The book did not focus on the tragedy, but on the people involved in the tragedy including the Amish girls, their families, firefighter, EMTs, and English neighbors. The book is an emotional journey that shows how everyone in the community reached out to help each other heal. It also explains the faith the Amish had that helped them offer forgiveness and comfort to the family of the killer. I recommend this book for everyone, but be prepared to wipe away tears as you read the book that is told from the viewpoint of one of the survivors.
