Bonnie and Orson, two young rabbits, build a hot air balloon to enter in a St. Valentine's Day balloon race. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I borrowed this book from the library, and was pleased at how much my 3 1/2 year old and 5 1/2 year old daughters enjoyed it. The story line goes like this: Otto becomes intrigued with hot air balloons, and finds out that there is going to be Valentine's Day hot air balloon race. With the help of his supportive parents and a smart female friend, he learns how to build and fly a hot air balloon. My oldest daughter was excited and kicking her feet in suspense as the race progressed. Both of my girls were giggling and clapping at the ending. My daughters like holiday theme books, and it was nice to have something for Valentine's Day that was a little bit different. The only connection to Valentine's Day is the timing of the race, and that the winner of the balloon race was determined by who dropped the first bean bag onto a huge heart that was drawn on the ground.
