Literature as Commentary

Caird writes with great style and warmth. He displays a keen awareness of the historical context in which Luke adresses his audience. The "Purpose of the gospel" section of the Introduction is worth the price of the book. Caird's commentary follows Luke's narrative flow and is both devotional and scholarly.
