Great Story, But Not a Romance

I loved the story and the characters. This book was very well written and I rooted for Mattie throughout the book. But, I was under the impression this was a romance book because the book was sold as a contemporary romance. Beware, there is no Happily Ever After in this book, so if you require HEA's like I do from my romance novels, please note this book will disapoint you. If you are looking for a wonderful story, this is a great book and it will keep you riveted to find out what happens next, it just isn't a romance. I still give it four stars, because the story and the characters were very good and I really enjoyed reading the book. I do hope the author writes a sequel for this book and gives us a look at what happens in the future to these characters, I'd like to see a HEA for Mattie and Collier in a future edition.

Good story

Mattie has been labeled the bad sister since her birth. Her mother was perfectly satisfied with her perfect daughter Meredith and had no use for the accident that came alone 11 months after. She didn't even bother to pick out a name. Mattie has made a life for herself and become engaged to a wonderful man when her sister just disappears from her perfect life and leaves Mattie to pick up the pieces. She finds her self confidence and a new relationship with her brother in law and his family, in spite of her sister's betrayal. I enjoyed this story even if I was really disappointed with the ending and I won't ruin the story here. Meredith is not as perfect as it would seem and the birth of an imperfect child seems to have sent her over the edge. Mattie has much more character and inner beauty than the spoiled brat her sister has been all of her life. Meredith seems to have deliberately done her best to make Mattie's life miserable, from sabotaging her relationship with her mother to stealing her fiance, but nothing seems to touch her. Mattie finds her strength and loses the hero worship she had for her sister, and hopefully will go on to a better life.
