Fifty years after a German U-boat carrying a deadly Nazi weapon in sunk during World War II, a fugitive SS officer plots to salvage the weapon to restore the Third Reich, and Captain Stephen Aldridge finds himself on a deadly mission. Reissue.
Readers that enjoy WW II history, submarines, and mystery will enjoy this book, but don't expect the Tom Clancy level of operational detail. Readers not familiar with Richard Hendrick's novels, may think this is one of his latest works based on the incorrect (1996) publishing date.. It isn't. The paperback was published in 1991. There's nothing wrong with reprints, just tell it like it is.

This book really got me excited! I've always wanted to go to the Norwegian island of Svalbard, and this story took me there without the cost of an airline ticket. I like the way Henrick uses descriptive passages to move the action along. Also enjoyed the way he set the novel in the present time. If you enjoyed U-571, you'll love this book, by one of my very favorite adventure authors.
