I found the account of the discovery of TutankHamun's tomb entirely fascinating. It's a subject that I had no prior experience with or knowledge thereof. With that in mind the read became a great adventure. The characters, politics, and players in the drama are interesting, the public's interest in the discovery bordered on a gold rush of sorts. The author writes with authority on the subject. The depth of knowledge about the players, both those from antiquity and those involved in the digs, seems very thorough. The book touched upon so many areas involved in making sense of these finds that I was given an new found admiration for the field and the people that take this up. No stone seems unturned - religion, sociology, geneology, etc. I was completely unaware of how much they know from these ancient times. Also, the 1920s were exciting times as well and this discovery adds greatly to the magic of the age. I become easily overwhelmed by the names and places and dates in reading history, but this book, which has plenty, gets you caught up in the events and clues like a good mystery. A worthwhile read.
