Makes Me Laugh!

I had read this book several years ago. Since then I have become a widow. Looking for anything to lift my spirits I stumbled across this book at the library. After re-reading it, I knew I had to have my own copy. It made me laugh. Frances Weaver gives you permission to laugh at life. She shows you how to find a way through the sadness. I highly recommend it.

Grandmother Faces is wonderful

I actually was loaned a copy of this book and loved it so much I bought my own. I've now loaned it to my mother who may buy one for herself and some of her friends. This is an inspiring book for any one over 50. I loved it!!!

Need some good laughs-- with useful advice? Read this!

Having heard Frances Weaver on the TODAY show, I was anxious to read her book, and what a pleasure it was! I have since given copies to many of my friends, and they also enjoy her wit and wisdom! I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in living life to the fullest -- Frances Weaver is an inspiration, and her attitude toward life is refreshing! She concentrates on "why not?" instead of "how to"-- and does it very well.

A reminder that life is not over after 60.

It is so easy to withdraw after the kids leave and you are alone. This book recognizes the ease of withdrawal and the empty feeling and attempts to remind us that there is really nothing different about being older. You have to go out and make things happen. Additionally, and the best part, there are all kinds of hints on places to go and unique ways to see things....just in case we didn't think of it ourselves. I didn't. Take a train...use Elderhostel....play bridge...get involved. OK. We've heard it before but if you are reading this book, you need to hear it again. I like the book.

The Girls with the Grandmother Faces by Frances Weaver... While gathering information for a university class I teach in Women's Studies, Frances' book literally jumped off the shelf and landed at my feet. Getting ready to enter my 50s, experiencing a new empty nest, changing careers, becoming a first-time grandmother, entering menopause, and a host of newly acquired aches and pains, I found her book to be truthful and refreshing. The last couple of years have been dark and swirling while I've tried to get my feet under me. Her book speaks to all women as they strive to face each challenge in all the roles they must play. I would appreciate hearing from you about your roles and experiences.
