Magnificent Information

Overall this book is invaluable! Even someone who has been to NASCAR Race Events will find information that is useful. Some of it is very basic, but all will enjoy the creative insight that Liz Allison has. The term "Who knew?" describes a lot of the insider tidbits she offers. This is an absolute "MUST HAVE" book for NASCAR fans everywhere!

Needed Angle for NASCAR

This is a refreshing approach to NASCAR with informative tidbits that, as a longterm male fan of NASCAR, I did not know. Furthermore, the diagrams and technical information is simple enough for my wife to follow while being high tech enough for me to enjoy. Excellent Book!!!

Broaden your horizons :->

If you are like I used to be (thought that pretty much all that happens in NASCAR racing was that the cars went round and round and round the track and that's it) and you want to learn more about this popular and addictive sport, then this book is for you. It's great. This is the first book ever written specifically for women about NASCAR. Liz was married Davey Allison (a former racer who was actually killed off track in a helicopter crash), and that's how her interest developed. The personalities of the drivers are what the main catch is for female fans, she says, but she goes into detail in the book about more specifics like what is in the cockpit and what they are wearing and what the history is all about. She explains about the official point and flag systems, regulations on cars etc. Liz explains things to us not as if we are stupid, but in a way that makes you understand the history and fun of it all. She also includes recipes for NASCAR parties you throw. I really recommend this book to all women out there who want to know a little more about the sport and impress a few people out there who think we only know about shopping and make-up etc. Great book.

Liz Goes To Victory Lane After Taking The Checkered Flag With This Book

Nashville Sports Radio Host, Wife of the late Davey Allison, Daughter-in-law of Bobby Allison, Former TV reporter for NASCAR races, Liz Allison writes a compelling book for all who watch and attend those fast moving cars on high banked tracks called raceways. There is one point that I disagree with the author. It is that Girl's Guide To NASCAR is NOT for girls only. Men who are race fans will learn from reading this fact filled, inside out of the racing sport which has been well explained by Liz Allison. It is also a good gift for a man to give to his wife or girlfriend to help them to understand his love for racing and promote dialogue and interest in watching races together on TV. For newbies to the sport and for life long fans, you will find within the pages explanations for the NASCAR rules and the chain of command within the governing body, job descriptions for each team member, what takes place on race day with the drivers, and many, many other interesting facts. She has made it understandable and included wit, humor and sidebar boxes with tidbits that add to the books holding one's attention. I had a hard time putting it down and plan to reread it to highlight sentences I want to refer to as I talk about racing. Planning ahead is the key to having a great race experience and she includes tips to save on expenses, preparation lists for camping, tailgating, children activities at tracks and which are child friendly are outlined. Liz not only gives information about each track but how to contact them and the areas of interest near by. The profile of drivers I found especially intriguing as the towns where they now reside are listed. I learned that Mark Martin lives in Florida instead of Batesville, AR. which was his hometown and where he has his museum and car dealership. Also featured are the living legends. Among the tidbits and fast facts that you'll learn is how the money is divided that is won and what drivers did not make it to victory lane due to potty issues after their wins. I plan to give the book as a gift to many of my friends so they will enjoy watching the races with me on TV as well as to friends who just need to be educated in a simple fashion all about the inside outs of the sport called NASCAR and why I enjoy it. Children, teens and adults enjoy racing. This book will help parents to give simple answers to their children's questions as well as teens who want to learn more to follow the young guns. Thanks Liz for writing an entertaining, educational, factual and human interest storyline for us who are Real Race Fans and for those who are just beginning the wonderful journey that the sport and drivers give to us. See ya at the track! Boogity! Boogity! Boogity Boys and Girls, Ladies and Gentlemen! Let's go racing!
