Nexus uses authors names and replaces the authors. This is the second book after the The Girlflesh Institute (Nexus)which was good. The book stands alone though. The books by the alternate were quite a bit better if you are strongly into fantasy and whimsy. These others include Abandoned Alice, Alice In Chains (Nexus Series), and Captives of Cheyner Close (Nexus). But another two are out of print--too bad. I have to decry the Nexus use of multiple authors under the same name as it makes it hard to tell what kind of book you are getting. Penny Birtch represents at least 4 diffeent stiles an at this point must be in her 60s having written about 1 book a month. This book has some good character development and why be a slave girl. Surprisingly it has a plot and subplot with are well done. Character development and plots are not real strong and the villain is somewhat pro forma but having a plot is a bonus in this genre. Overall a very good read if you like Ds, MS and BDSM.
