An excellent introduction to the Catholic faith

This is without question one of the best books I've ever read on the basics of Catholicism, brilliantly synthesized and written in a clear, powerful, and simple manner. I don't know how he does it, but Msgr. Guste manages to address all the central aspects and questions about the faith in less than 175 pages without watering anything down; he has a real gift for clarity and solid argument. This is an outstanding defense of and introduction to the Catholic faith for the ordinary layman--not at all stuffy or scholarly in tone and just as rich as Thomas Howard's "On Being Catholic" or Karl Adam's "Spirit of Catholicism." It would be perfect for use in an RCIA program. I learned a great deal from this wonderful little book, and I would like to give a copy to all my Christian friends, both Catholic and Protestant. Every Catholic should read it, particularly for the chapters on authority and unity. As Fr. Benedict Groeschel says in his introduction, however, if you don't like your beliefs to be challenged and would rather remain a lukewarm Christian, stay away from this book! I highly recommend this book.
This book is excellent and insightful to any Catholic.
