A Heart Warmer and Tear Jerker

This is one of my favorite books. I will frequently grab this book if I am going on a short trip. The characters are real and the story is nice. It is a parable of the importance of those around us and of loving ourselves. A very good read.

The Gift Of Acabar

The Gift of Acabar Og Mandino and Buddy Kaye Reaching for the Skies In a world where only money matters, Og Mandino and Buddy Kayes "The Gift Acabar" presents a wealthy insight on what kind of stuff life should be made. In a simple story of a boys struggle to keep his dreams from being destroyed by lifes adversity, the authors provide the "Credenda" that sums up lifes significance. The use of supernatural element, in the form of a miracle, brought a change in the characters personality. It somehow provides a deeper meaning of the events that took place in his life. In such a young age, the Lapp boy Tulo is faced with great responsibilities. He already lost his parents, who were very close to him. The situation became more challenging when a terrible storm came and he was the one providing a living for his younger sister, Joana. Moreover, the sun leaving Kalvala for over two months ever year makes daily economic living difficult. So goes Tulos struggle with life. With the star of right beside him to give him hope and guidance, he was able to face the obstacles in his life and touch the lives of the people in their small village. The setting contributes to the purpose of the story - to provide a challenge which would improve a mans character and make him a stronger individual. Tulo underwent the process, got hurt, felt bad, and eventually recovered. The harsh environment also makes an atmosphere where one could feel the misery and unhappiness that affects the story. The coming of the Star Acabar and Star of Lirra literally and symbolically gave light to the people. As an inspirational work, "The Gift of Acabar" teaches the readers that to struggle is the only certain way for anyone to achieve his full potential and that adversity is not a curse, it is a blessing. It s a good book that will tell the readers that theres always light in darkness. But it would have been better if the writers thought of another way in fixing the conflict. Miracles as performed in the Bible serve to make the people believe in God, not to solve lifes difficulties. Inspirational

a one-sitting book!!!

I was given this book to read during the first years of my high school life, and boy did this book make an impact on me! It's a tale about a boy struggling in the world of selfish men and chances upon a star, Acabar, which changes the course of his life and his town, with the mysterious gift "Credenda". As the story progresses we see the true colors of men and the shining colors of what is called "true selflessness". This book has reinforced my beliefs that goodness exists in this world despite overwhelming darkness. I read it in one sitting...and I believe you can too!

One of the most touching books Og Mandino has done.

I own and have read everyone of Og Mandino's books and "The Gift of Acabar" along with "The Greatest Salesman In The World, and " The Greatest Miracle In the World" are i think the most touching books Mandino has written. Og Mandino has changed my life because of his writings. I just hope that everyone enjoys these books as much as I have. God Bless you all.

Powerful words once again from our friend Og.

This book has not only inspired me to be a better person in general, it made me believe that Tulo's dream is a dream that we all share in some moment of our life or another. I started the book this morning and could not put it down, I finished it within hours. We all can take the advise from Acabar and Lirra "Conduct our lives as it were spent in an arena filled with tattlers." We are truley always being watched, if you only believe it is the stars or you believe it is God watching us. Whom ever you choose it is inevitable that we are being watched. This is some of the best advise I have ever heard. I have always said "live life so that you don't have to regret any thing tommorow." This was one of the many principals taught in this book, and I am honered that Mr. Og has the same view as I. Og Mandino has never let me down in writing uplifting and inspiring books. I am also very impressed with Buddy Kaye and his ability to inspire Mr. Og with his idea of creating a book with such a powerful message. The Gift that was given to Tulo is truely one of life's best gifts'. Yet so simple we all seem to forget the importance of siplecity. If we all reverted back to the simpleness of thikning that Tulo has we would all see miricles in our own lives. All that it takes is a little desire and a little faith. And thing of this magnitude can come to pass. I just want to say that I have been inspired. My life has been changed.
