This novel would make a great movie!!

It's been almost thirty years since Watergate, and it's politics as usual. But what is usual is hidden from the American public by spin doctors, special interest money, and who knows what else that goes on behind the political scene. Some independent political parties have sprung up, but the press gives them little attention. Why?Jack Uldrich, former naval intelligence officer and former Intern for the Department of Defense presently serves with Jesse Ventura as Deputy Director of the Office of Strategic and Long Range Planning. He is eminently suited to craft a conspiracy novel that flows from a wellspring of experience and insight into the political process. The Gibraltar Conspiracy is a what if tale of political intrigue about a courageous man who runs for president as an independent and who speaks his mind in the process. Robert T. Colfax is the governor of Minnesota (strange coincidence) who isn't afraid to take on lobbyists, lawyers, corporations, and political action committees to try to redirect American politics. He uses an ever-growing cadre of student activists who believe in what he has to say and aren't afraid to use their skills on the Internet to spread the word in the face of corporate attempts to put a stranglehold on his candidacy by whatever means necessary: suppressing the press; lying; conspiracy; murder; and attempted assassination: "The answer is complete disclosure. The only way to reform this crappy system is to require everyone and every organization that contributes to a campaign, a political action committee, or an independent campaign organization to reveal who they are and how much they have given. If that information is available, the public could figure out the hidden agendas of all these independent expenditure groups like the Coalition for a Prosperous New Millennium."The Gibraltar Conspiracy is an excellent read; the kind that keeps the reader glued to the book well after bedtime. Jack Uldrich's characters fairly jump out of the book at the reader, who is mesmerized by character development. Uldrich's impressive repertoire of information about election techniques, special interest groups, campaign strategy, military habits, and Secret Service procedure is fascinating. But, more importantly, this book is a wake up call that perhaps we should listen to the little guys. This book would make a great movie!Shelley Glodowski, Reviewer

Clancyesque!

Jack Uldrich's "Gibraltar Conspiracy" has captured the formula that has made Tom Clancy one of the world's best-selling authors. A intriguing, developing story that makes the reader turn each page a bit quicker then the previous one. Meticulous research that leaves even the most ardent checkers of fact unable to find a 'flaw in the ointment'. And the ability to combine the two so that upon completion, the reader not only feels that they have been entertained, but also the recipient of a painless education. Coming away with a greater understanding(in this case of the political system) of how certain disciplines function then they had prior to the reading experience. Kudos to Uldrich, and let us hope and pray that we don't have to wait 36 years for him to finish his second book

Suspenseful Fiction Spiced With Rea;ity

"The Gibraltar Conspiracy" is the first book from Minnesota author Jack Uldrich. Uldrich has drawn upon his multi-level experience in government to produce a striking and sometimes shocking portrayal of politics and the "powers-that-be." Probably by design, the main character in the book is a third party Governor from Minnesota who is seeking the presidency. Governor "Colfax" is a straight-talking middle of the road candidate whose viewpoints threaten the existing controllers. And the methods they use to derail him will bring a chill to your neck, mostly because of their plausibility. The author, Jack Uldrich currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Strategic and Long Range Planning Department in the Ventura administration. His past assignment as a Naval Intelligence Officer and connection with Department of Defense lend a credibility to this story equitable to a Tom Clancy techno-tale. Uldrich has constructed an intricate tale of greed, power and betrayal at the highest levels of government. The Gibraltar Conspiracy is both a satisfying sensory thriller and a disconcerting appraisal of who is really in charge of American government. Yes, it is fiction, and the wide array of characters only exist on paper. But anyone who believes that a presidential election is strictly the will of the people may have to reassess their opinion after reading this tale of shifting alliances and special interests. In his first book, Jack Uldrich spins a suspenseful masterpiece that will keep you past your bedtime, and may enlighten you about the dark underbelly of democracy. How far will the good old boys go to stop this threat to their power structure? You can only get the answer to that by reading The Gibraltar Conspiracy by Jack Uldrich

The Gibralter Conspiracy-Gripping and Timely

I couldn't put it down! I bought one of the first copies of this book because I had met Jack Uldrich. I have read other first time novels by authors that have gone on to become famous (like Ken Follett) and others who never published another book. Needless to say, it is quite possible to get a bad book from a first-time author. Fortunately for me, and now I know many others, this was not one of them. Uldrich masterfully wrote this novel to be suspenseful and gripping as well as educational. The political environment in this country is the theme, and it is educational and alarming, but also not surprising. It is also hopeful--perhaps it IS possible to reform the political system. The political piece combined with the suspense from the first page to the last makes this a great book. And, it is timely. I recommend this as a "must-read" in a presidential election year.We haven't heard the last of Jack Uldrich. My guess is publishers will be beating a path to his door.

Outstanding political thriller!

Jack Uldrich starts out with a bang, and holds your interest to the end! His characters are well described, the plots are full of intrigue, and his writing style is excellent. He may well be the next John Grisham -- I hope his second book will be forthcoming soon! This book is well worth reading --
