Interesting Title, GREAT Adventure!

"The Ghost, the Eggheads and Babe Ruth's Piano" by Larry Sweitzer presents a good old-fashioned tale of mystery wrapped in many appealing outer layers. Freddie is your typical young man, trying to enjoy his summer at camp, nurture his current friendships, and eager to reconnect with a certain young lady he met during a fondly remembered game of truth or dare. The catch? Well, this is no ordinary camp, in more ways than one. First, it's not just a fun summer excursion, it's a learning experience with an end of summer prize being a $5,000 scholarship to the top project. Second, the camp is haunted or at least rumored to be.....then again how else would you explain those weird occurrances of what keeps going bump in the night and the shadowy figures caught out of the corner of your eye. It seems that many years back the owners youngest died at this very camp site....but hey, ghosts are for those too silly to logically uncover the truth...right? Uncover first loves, hidden secrets, arch nemesis and nerdishly good times with Freddie and all his friends.....a recommended read for teens and beyond as there are a few instances of embarrassment that would be lost on younger minds. I highly enjoyed this first work from Mr. Sweitzer and look forward to seeing what he brings us next. Happy reading....

A book for teens and adults that will capture your interest!

Teens and adults who read this book will get a wonderful story to sit down and read. It features ghost stories, boys trying to get the girls to notice them, camping and great writing. I was so thrilled with this book! The only thing I didn't like was how short it was! I was so wrapped up in reading this book that before I knew it, the story came to an end and it only took me about an hour. I so wanted this book to keep going even though I know that all books must come to an end. This story has humor, young love, spooky ghost stories, and a story that will keep you glued to the last page! I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next! [...]

Campfire fun

This is a very cute, easy read for tweens-- camp tales, puppy love, and a little ghost story thrown in for good measure. A great little book for young adult readers. Very appropriate and engaging material for 9-14 years old kids.

Excellent Camp Read for Teens

Many fun things happen at camp in this book by Larry Sweitzer. Great games that get out of hand when one of the girls, Zoe, has a humiliating thing happen to her. Spooky ghost hunts to find out more information on Billy Mason and if he is haunting the campground. Horrible camp food is served causing a big disruption that the boys will never forget and will make the boys laugh when they are older. Young love and flirting. You root for Freddie to get the girl he wants. The author did very well conveying Freddie's thoughts and you can picture yourself as a teen feeling the same way. You hope Freddie wins the scholarship especially over Tony, the arrogant jerk of the book. We all remember one of these types of people in our lives. I highly recommend this book especially for your teen.

Feed Your Emotions!

This book is a perfect read for teens on up to ninety two year olds. Teens will identify with the well-written characters and elderly people can relive their youth. I felt just like I was at camp---even though I have never gone. I often wish I would have had this opportunity of fun now that I am in my forties. Freddie is trying so hard to get Ginny to notice him, talk to him and become more than friends. Poor Freddie just bottles up and cannot find the right words when talking to his crush. Mean Tony does not help. Tony is Freddie's worst nightmare. The two boys are gifted and Tony is a jerk that Freddie sometimes feels inferior to. Freddie wants to win the $5,000 scholarship the camp is giving away over Tony who won last year. His parents need him to win so they will not have to sacrifice a lot once Freddie goes to college. (Even thought the $5,000 isn't enough--but every bit helps!) A rumor (or is it?) of a ghost around the camp keeps things in the story thrilling and scary when you read this book at night!
