This Library Is Empty!

A child develops an insatiable love for reading through the time spent with a parent who is the one reading to him or her; obviously, the parent has already developed the love for reading and passes it on to the child. If on the other hand, reading the book, becomes an assignment for school, the love for reading may thin out, if this "love for reading" has not been nurtured by the parent. Hopefully, enough time between the parent and the child is spent on reading, and the child enlarges his or her world with reading wonderful books. This story will take you into the life of one little girl, named Bo, who loves to read stories before bedtime. Her parents didn't prop her in front of the television or the computer where the media would get her all agitated and hyper before bedtime. As she sits on her bed, reading from the latest book of interest, Ghost Library, the electricity in the house goes out. She is so captivated with the story she is reading that, in the next moment, while she is holding on to her book, a clammy hand reaches for the book in a tug-of war. Rather than panic, Bo holds on tight to the book, and is whisked away to a place where she has never been before. Once she opens her eyes, she realizes that she is standing in a gigantic library where the room is filled with empty shelves. Yes, "empty shelves". While there, the regular patrons, "the friendly ghosts" explain that they are looking for interesting stories to read, but the shelves are empty. Bo is a very creative child, filled with great ideas. She dreams up ways of helping the ghosts fill their library with interesting books. Part of this story contains a clever cartoon-like segment that you may want to write a story for; maybe your child can create the story and you can journal it for him or her. Maybe this story will inspire your son or daughter to think of other ways of helping people. You, no doubt, will inspire her to help others, as she makes plans for her life.

Incredible book!

This is a wonderful book for young children, particularly elementary age. Writing a story can be daunting, and may seem to many children like something that only those who are grown-up or really smart or talented can do. This book is about a little girl who teaches ghosts (who attempt to "borrow" her favorite book for their library) that anyone can write a story, and they use the skills she gives them to fill their library with stories of their own.
