The start of another funny British sci-fi series

Fans of Hitchhikers Guide The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide: Five Complete Novels and One Story (Deluxe Edition) and Red Dwarf Red Dwarf Omnibus series should welcome another choice. I found it funny enough to be a pleasant addition. It's about the Pioneer, a space ship making earth's first interstellar manned mission. To the incompetent captain of the mission Richard Curtis, this mission should earn him a prominent place in history. To his colleagues it's an opportunity to get rid of Richard Curtis. To evil scientist brothers it's irrelevant, since soon to be perfected technology will insure that others will beat the Pioneer to its destination. To crew member Bowen it's a chance to escape his family. To crew member Wilverton they're playing out a work of fiction. To god like beings who consider humans and other physical beings to be game pieces, it's just part of the game. The story also features cameo appearances by Kirk and Spock and a crazy, homicidal woman after Curtis who reminds me of a character from the "Blues Brothers" The Blues Brothers (Widescreen 25th Anniversary Edition).
