Davis uses extraordinary detail--with a unique focus on fun--to provide singles and couples the ultimate Chicago experience. This description may be from another edition of this product.
"The reason for coming here has not changed since 1943: deep-dish pizza with savory sausage and a piquant and chunky tomato sauce. The crust is heavy but not thick and not doughy; in fact, it's rather flaky. This is what they mean when they say "Chicago pizza," and don't believe them if it doesn't taste like this." ~ pg. 41, notes on Pizzeria Uno The Fun Seeker's Guides seem to be the place to go for information on Athens, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco. They include the best hotels, restaurants, attractions and include detailed and delicious descriptions. The Fun Seeker's Chicago is no exception and has exceptional writing and some humorous moments where you might even laugh out loud. I especially enjoyed the notes on the Hotel Monaco that indicate you can ask for your very own goldfish. The intriguing moment was reading about a suite that has handwritten John Lennon song lyrics on the walls. The room also has an electric guitar and a 52-disc CD player as well as a fully loaded digital jukebox. Sounds like a music lover's dream. Descriptions of the Music Box Theatre sound enticing and the butter on the popcorn is apparently real. You may find yourself being pampered at the Nordstrom Spa or wandering about aimlessly enjoying the Museum of Contemporary Art. "Choices extend to two dark and sensual dining rooms. The red room has accents of the namesake color while the green room sizzles with an unusual triple fireplace. Like so many Chicago-cool places these days, Japonais has a stylish lounge downstairs with deeply secluded sofas and a great view of the Chicago River, and it also spills out onto a fabulous patio in the summer." ~pg. 156 Other highlights include Japanese gardens, Rollerblading, Romantic Rendevous at gorgeous Versailles styled fountains, Canoe & Kayak trips, Concerts in the Park, Festivals (see the calendar section), Jazz Clubs and Guided Tours. This is an enjoyable guide that has a bit of an attitude and is at times decadent in observation. The Fun Seeker's guide makes Chicago seem irresistible. If you live or travel in Chicago, this has a must-see restaurant guide. ~The Rebecca Review lived in Chicago as a child...

i live in chicago and use this as a reference book for going out all the time. unlike other guides, this book really takes a stand on what's best. they list the best pizza, trendiest restaurants, etc. i've agreed with all their recommendations so far. it all seems very well researched for tourists, i think this book would also be really useful since it has hotel recommendations and lots of practical info.
