Gretchen Hayduk was a friend of ours in NYC and I had my copy autographed by her in 1995. I thought this book was unique and entertaining and every now and then I pick it up and read it again. It is a book that captures NY life for the working(read: struggling)-class and will always have a place on my bookshelf.
What a find!

I found this book in a little used bookstore somewhere in the Village, appropriately enough, since that is where the story is set. Gen-Xers will be able to identify well with the characters, I think; I could relate to many of their trials and tribulations. I especially loved how so many things are left to the reader to decide, ie. the ending. The way the book was printed initially drew me in. It inspired me to pick up reading as well as writing in a journal again.
