The End of the Innocence

The Foundation is a coming of age tale about David Alastair's search for justice and his determination to do the right thing. The story is set in the backwoods of Florida in the early eighties and focuses on Alastair's determination to right the wrongs around him, and his search for justice, when everything seems so corrupt. It highlights the importance of making the right choices and letting go of the things most precious to us in order to move on. Though it is fiction, I found that I identified with many of the places mentioned since I grew up near Clermont, Florida, around the same time. I could see the lakes, trees and the swamps as though I were there again, camping in the tent in the backyard with my sister and our dog, hickory nuts falling around us and squirrels chasing each other way up in the trees.
