The Flight of SaraJane

This story was inspired by a true story. After feeding and watering her own chickens, the author left the water running in the chicken yard. When she discovered what she had done, she wondered, "What must these little chickens be thinking". And that was the basis for this story about SaraJane, a little red chicken who must save her friends from drowning. The chickens are frightened, wet, and thinking they are going to drown. SaraJane convinces them she can fly over the fence and find the farmer. Now, everyone knows that chickens can't really fly so she has to prove to the other chickens, as well as to herself, that she can fly. She must go through many adventures to find the farmer, but she is a brave little chicken who won't let a little teasing keep her from saving the day.
