16 Secrets means Good Health

I bought the book and was loaning it out to friends at our workplace and finally bought a second copy. Master Bond's description of his grandfather's, then father's background and training is very important to understanding the man. I bought it after reading several of the 5 star reviews. It has totally turned around my high blood pressure and is now helping my diabetes II. It has given me a new insight into helping my body as it ages. The ease with which anyone can understand his descriptions and the various exercises is amazing. His explanations of T'ai Chi being a combination of external Chi Kung (known as kung fu) and Internal Chi Kung (breathing power therapy) and Feng Shui (earth and sky chi life force)and the central nervous system of the human body are significant to fully understand why this is so easy and so positively influencing to the body, especially as we all get older.

Interesting approach to qigong

I read this book in some detail. I dont know Master Bond at all. Just did a critique and tried a number of the exercises. They are deceptively simple, but to my amazement they actually work !. I have tried all forms of qigong, but this one is the most satisfying. Because they are simple, it is easy to write them off as being useless because normal Tai Chi and Qigong forms are so complicated. Master Bond illustrates movements which even an old-timer can follow, that allow the mind to follow the movement and hence the path of Chi. I recommend that folk try this. Sometimes simple is beautiful, which is the way qigong was meant to be until it started to get packaged and merchandized.

Excellent Text on Health Maintenance

I believe that if I can make a strong commitment in following the guidelines in the book,' The 16 Secrets of Chi' I will improve my health and quality of life to a much greater extent. This is because after practicing Chi Kung for the past four months; thanks to the enthusiastic and tireless instruction of Master Bond, his senior students, Terry Hasegawa and other team members; I have been feeling more energetic without most of my old joint pains. This book contains all the information we need to enhance our health. The instruction is easy to follow because the illustration is clearly written and supplemented by photos. I am profoundly impressed by the philosophy explained in this book, that good health can only be achieved by practicing proper chi kung exercise, eating the right foods, and maintaining sound mental health. I especially enjoyed reading about the life story of Master Bond up to his arrival at Hawaii. At each practice session, I enjoy the last 5-minute vertical breathing and meditation exercise because through it we generate and store the essential chi or oxygen we need for the day. The philosophy expressed by the instructors help us to live a peaceful life. For exemple, Master Bond tells us to "be happy, no worry". Terry tells us to "empty all our negative thoughts and anger and fill our hearts with positive thoughts." As soon as I wake up everyday, I look forward to practicing Chi Kung in Kapiolani Park with a bunch of nice people. The book is an excellent source of reference for good health. I therefore strongly recommend this book for everybody. Have a great life and Aloha!

Nature's secret revealed

The big secret is that there is no secret at all. We were all born endowed with the power to utilize the life forces (CHI) of the universe. Unfortunately, our western upbringing has not taught us how to tap this power -- how to help ourselves.By contrast, Chinese tradition -- thousands of years in the making -- teaches us moderns that developing the CHI in yourself and maintaining a wholistic, balanced life mitigates the ravages of daily living.16 simple exercises lead us in that direction. Master Bond is the real thing, and if one faithfully follows these chi kung (Chi development) movements, it will lead to better health, energy, and well-being.His diet section is not to be ignored. This valuable summary of how to eat is probably the best overall dietary plan around. There are no calorie, carbohydrate, fat, or cholestoral counts to manage; special food packages or supplements to buy; gadgets to fool with; nor costly programs to enter. It is just a natural, sensible approach to eating to achieve balance. And balance is the foundation for allowing your body to heal itself and to fight off illness.Even the modern west recognizes diet and exercise as the pillars of health and longevity. This univeral truth is expressed in this book. Having paricipated in Chi (Ki- Japanese) arts for several years, I am of the opinion that Master Bond unfolds genuine ancient traditions of the east in this very nice, simple, readable book, easily adaptable to westerners of all ages and all walks of life.

Highly Recommended

My wife and I have been taking Chi Kung from Master Bond for over eight years now and we are convinced that this was the best thing that ever happened to us in remaining healthy and improving the quality of our lives. Our daily Chi Kung workout of one hour has kept us in excellent condition so that my diabetes and other related problems have been kept under excellent control. My wife too who was catching a cold about once every three months until about eight years ago, now rarely ever catches one.Master Bond's Chi Kung, which follows that of the original founder Jen Sun Fung, is explained in detail in his book "The First 16 Secrets of Chi, Feng Shui for the Human Body" and in his video tape "The Secret of the Enchanting Chi". Both are excellent as guide and reference for the beginner and we still refer back to both from time to time for review and recheck of specific movements or questionable points. We have witnessed through our own experience what Chi Kung (breathing power therapy) can do and because it is a non-impact type of exercise which is suitable whether you are young or old, well or disabled, we strongly recommened it for everyone.Terry and Elizabeth Hasegawa
