I have been reading from Niel Hancock's array of science fiction/fantasy novels. I have read and own Greyfax grimwald, Faragon Fairingay, Calix Stay, Squaring The Circle, Dragon Winter, Across the Far Mountain, The plains Of The Sea, On The Boundaries Of Darkness, The Road To The Middle Islands, and The Fires Of Windameir. I have to say my favorite was The Fires Of Windameir(I assume it's Windameir Circle 1.) This was my favorite, because the main antagonist here is a young teen named Owen Helwin. Instead of some seaworthy otter or a grumpy dwarf, I get to read about a main character who is probably a couple years younger than me and who has to endure the many cards in life of being a teen(such as falling in love for the first time), while trekking through hostile wilderness between a sundering war between Bern the red Bear(stepbrother of Borim Bruinthor from Across the Far Mountain) and Argent Largo(yes the same Largo as Linne's brother from The Road to The Middle Islands.) Owen must search for a cure for his mother, Linne, who has become fataly ill from a black sleep placed on her by the evils and destruction of Largo. Owen is not alone, with him are the enigmatic Darek, durable kegin, and emerald the bard. Together they must find a leaf from The Three Trees in order to find a cure for Linne. This book has a great amount of adventure and suspense. It basically starts where The Wilderness Of Four 4: The Road To The Middle Islands left Off. I also think that the cover art of the book is the best cover art on all the Niel Hancock books I own. Maybe someday I'll find another copy, rip the cover off, get a color scanner, and scan the picture on my webpage for everyone to see. I find this book hard to come by, but it's worth the search. There's also a fairly large array of cool creatures like Elves, Dariens, and other fun stuff. If you love fanatasy and adventure, you should add this to your collection. The paperback edition I proudly own is 407 pages(408 if you care to count the page in the back that advertises The Wilderness of Four series.) This book has somewhat a little romance in it, but mostly a lot of adventure and high fellowship of friends. This isn't an adventure like Mario and Luigi going off to rescue Princess Toadstool or Xena and Gabrielle questing to kill Julius Caesar and company, I found it much, much more.
