If you want a book that takes you through EVERY procedural aspect of assisting (film or NLE) then this is probably the book for you. One drawback is that it might not be as specific as you may like, as it caters for Film, AVID, Lightworks... and it won't tell you which buttons to press. Every aspect of film editing is covered in this wonderful book. It gets a little technical in spots but its a great book nonetheless. Needs an update. The film editing business has gone digital in many respects and this book shows its age, since that topic isn't discussed. An essential guide to purists still editing on film.
