Made a believer out of me.

I am a male who enjoys a good mystery. I had never read a book by Beverly Barton, not because she is a woman (I love J.A. Jance and other female authors), but because her books were listed as "romance." "The Fifth Victim" was a great read. As a result, I ordered "Grace Under Fire" but put off reading it because the description emphasised romance.I just finished "Grace Under Fire" and am ordering some more Barton books. Great reads!!!

This book has it all

The Fifth Victim is one of the best books that I have read all year. Genny Madoc has had visions all her life. The ones she has been having lately are getting for violent by the day. When a gruesome murder brings FBI agent Dallas Sloan to the scene, Genny knows that her world is going to change. As Genny and Dallas relationship grows so does the violence in Cherokee Pointe. This book is a must read, its fast paced and the chemistry just sizzles. The suspense will keep you guessing till the end. Looking forward to the next books in this exciting series.

There have been other similar victims in other states over the years. He knows the scene too well and knows the killer won't stop until this round of four more women is sacrificed. Before Dallas reaches Cheroke Pointe, Genny has a vision of him coming to her and she knows that he is the man she has been waiting all her life. The Fifth Victim is a nerve-shaking tale that is both captivating and intriguing. The serial killer is clever and his method of killing is scary. Ms Barton has created an atmosphere that captures the attention of readers via Genny, Dallas and the killer. Moreover, the most interesting part in reading romantic suspense is to find the killer along with the characters of the story. Ms Barton has given out enough hints and evidence to help readers to look for the right killer. Although I thought I had pinpointed the right suspect in the middle of the book I wasn't sure until I finished the rest of tale. The Fifth Victim is a wonderful read and I can't wait to read the next two books of the Cheroke Pointe trilogy that feature Genny's best friend and her cousin respectively.

When they uncover the similarities between all the fifth victim's, he is terrified that she will be taken from him.Genny and Dallas, along with secondary characters that you will fall in love with, with hold you spellbound in the book that has the right amount of romance and suspense combined. Things take a grim turn when Dallas finds the link in the victims, and it is one that shows him the woman he is beginning to care for too much is likely to be on the hit list. Dallas is a man haunted and driven, and very realistic. He is a hero you can easily imagine existing, not one who is larger than life. Genny has the sweet air that older women or younger fans of classic movies will be able to associate with Jenifer Jones, or perhaps more recently, Mandy Moore. The chills created are enough to keep you up all night. If you enjoy Linda Howard, you will definitely fall in love with this writer.
