irish book. The Feckin' Book of Everything Irish: A Gansey-Load of Deadly Craic for Cute Hoors and Bowsies This description may be from another edition of this product.
Well, it's far from everything Irish, but it is quite a bit of fun. Filled with vocabulary for any situation, the "Words and Phrases" chapter gives the casual lover of Ireland a "bang on" course in the slang of Ireland; skipping the "Blarney" many Americans are more familiar with. This is more than a bit of fun as the various words and phrases really open a window into Iris humor. While the "Massive Songs" and "Luvely Recipes" are mere padding that have been seen many other places, I did find " A Guide to sex and Love" an eye-opening examination of the history of sexual mores in Ireland. Told with humor and a bit of resignation this chapter finds an interesting way to examine Ireland's dual nature of dealing with the confluence of religious authority and personal freedoms. Filled with some very funny illustrations, this feckin' book is a fine bit of craic that's not just a nixer, although if you are easily offended, it's probably as useful as a lighthouse on a bog.
