I have spent years trying to locate a copy of this exceptional book! I am fifty years old and remember reading this amazing love story when I was around 14. The beautiful tale of two very different people stayed with me over the years and left a deep impression. The writing was excellent, filling my mind with a time and enviroment long past. I could envison the two star crossed lovers and their surrounding so vividly. I have just ordered two copies...one for daughter and one for myself! I highly recomend this wonderful book!
An unforgettable love story

I read The Faraway Lurs in the seventh grade, nearly thirty years ago. It was one of the first novels I had ever read on my own that was not part of an academic reading assignment. The author based the story on the actual discovery of two, excellently preserved female bodies that were found at a Danish excavation site. He added other characters and created a beautiful, bronze-age Romeo and Juliet story. He made the primitive Danish landscape so real that when I had the opportunity to live in Scandinavia as an adult, the nordic forests felt instantly familiar to me. This is an incredible story that should not be overlooked by anyone over the age of 12 years. Adults should appreciate this story as well as teenagers. I just want to know when a movie will be made based on The Faraway Lurs. It's long past due!
Powerful. Exceptional. Unbeatable.

I'm currently a senior in high school and I still remember my 8th grade experience reading The Faraway Lurs... quite easily the greatest book ever written. I actually chose it by accident for a school assignment, the cover art reminded me somewhat of the game Zelda64, which I was really into at the time. I loved the book so much, I stepped out of reality and into the world created by the novel every time I picked it up, and that says a lot, because I am not a reader in general. Everything was crafted flawlessly, from the beautiful environment to the interaction of the characters with each other. I highly recommend this book, it's an incredible story. I rated it 5 stars, but it really deserves more. It's a masterpiece. Powerful. Exceptional. Unbeatable.

I reread this many times as a child and a teenager and would like to find it again. The forest world the author paints is so vivid that when I think of the book I can still see/hear/smell it. The love story is as poignant as any in literature.
Couldn't put it down.

He had me hooked from the very first page to the very last. Heather Goodshade the daughter of the Chief of the Forest People is such a sweet caring girl. Caught in a romance that could never happen. The characters in this story were so real. Buzz the slave girl saved by Heather's father from the Sun People ever so loyal to Heather. Blue Wing's love for Heather and the jealousy he has for Wolf Stone the boy of the Sun People. Wolf Stone the son of the chief of the Sun People falls so deeply in love with Heather that he is ready to lay down his life for her and her people. A must read book.
