Book Overview

The world-famous bestseller Chariots of the Gods introduced the theory that ancient Earth had established contact with aliens. Now, Erich von D niken's The Eyes of the Sphinx reveals startling evidence that could prove it. Erich von D niken's theory of alien contact with the ancient world is so incredible, yet so logical and convincing, that it has become part of a wide-ranging debate that continues to this day. His claims that an alien race helped...

I say this book is quite good.

Either the ancient Egyptians possessed remarkable technology that has long since been forgotten or they never built the Great Pyramids in the first place. In which case, history as we know it is a pack of lies. It's sad that most of the human race is living in ignorance of these facts. And I wonder why that is too? Well, we'll probably never know.

Who are we and from where we come?

Erich von Däniken is probably the first reference among researchers, who believe that our origins are extraterrestrial. Although he has no official academical degree (sometimes this is even better, because you are not occupied with conventional knowledge), he reads and thinks a lot and also travels to see all the monuments he is talking about. In his work much of Strabo's and Herodotus's writings are quoted. They have travelled over Egypt some 2,000 years ago and have recorded the existence of pyramids, great labyrinth and other things, which either haven't been found again in our times or are still not deciphered. As Zecharia Sitchin has shown in his book "Stairway to Heaven", Khufu's hieroglyph is a forgery made by Col. Vyse. Pyramids of Fourth Dynasty have no inscriptions. Why have newer pyramids been built smaller and technologically inferior to those and why are they inscribed? Such "alien" theories are always somehow hard to digest. We were taught that science is always very exact and measurable, but is more than obviously not. Czech patent No. 93304 proves that pyramids are energetic channels, although there is no good explanation, why this energetic phenomena happens (it's about sharpening of blades inside replica of Great pyramid). If the Great Labyrinth hasn't been found yet, that doesn't mean that it hasn't existed. Herodotus has proven in his works that he knew what he was writing and we credit him for that. But when we come to the things he wrote and cannot be seen now, then he certainly exaggerated the whole thing or even made it up :))). Maybe everything written here isn't true. Maybe it's Zecharia Sitchin's view that's right. Maybe none is. But this theories are by my opinion as solid as Darwin's is. All of them have lacks and holes. Only difference is that Darwin is official science and others are not. But I believe them more.

Groundbreaking research on the monuments of ancient Egypt

This a fascinating read that shatters nearly all of the previously held notions by so-called Egyptologists (quite an envious, suppressive and self-serving lot as Von Daniken reveals). Von Daniken's theories and analyses are well thought out (yeah, but he's the ET nutcase right?), inquisitive and chock full of good 'ol common sense -- something that is sorely lacking in much scientific research. Try some of these fascinating observations & findings on for size:-Mysterious mixture of crushed animal bones and asphalt found in numerous sarcophagi, along with thousands of animal mummies. Why?-The mystery of a lost Egyptian labyrinth.-The pyramids could have been constructed using blocks that were cast like cement!-In 1993, a German scientist was allowed to send a small robot with a camera into a tiny shaft in the Queen's Chamber of the Great Pyramid. What he found at the other end was amazing, well nigh earthshattering, but he was summarily discredited and muzzled. The media barely caught wind of it and before long there was silence.-If the Great Pyramid, attributed to a megalomaniacal king like Khufu, was such a grand statement of his magnificence, why are there no heiroglypics to be found anywhere within the pyramid, proclaiming his greatness? Why is the Great Pyramid strangely anonymous?I have to laugh out loud at all the self-professed armchair scholars, "scientists" and "historians" who continually attack Von Daniken's theories because of his long-held belief that extraterrestrials may have influenced our ancient civilizations (sounds reasonable to me...who were all those "gods from the sky" anyhow?). Here in this book, he mentions a possible ET connection only sporadically. In fact, the bulk of this book is devoted to a complete re-examination of ancient Egypt through the accounts of ancient historians (many Arabic, who seem to be ignored by modern Egyptology) and pioneering scientists of today, Von Daniken being one of them. You simply will not believe how much information is being thrown out with the bathwater by status quo "science" and "history".Yes, there are some far-fetched ideas involving human-animal hybridization at the hands of ET "masters", but this is certainly no reason to dismiss all of his work. That's taking the easy way out...closing your mind.

The Eyes of The Sphinx

Great book that goes against the grain of the scientific community. With the facts that he brings into light it really makes you question if the scienfic community is truely scientic or just egocentrical. He writes in a way that the average person can understand. Great book.

A great book writen with logic in mind.

This book, like his others, is writen with logic in mind. He writes the facts and evidence in a way that is not dry, but instead interesting enough to keep the reader reading.
