To make matters worse, Ordinary Boy and his friends are thrown into the middle of a baffling mystery. Forget superheroes. In a city where everyone is extraordinary, this just might be a job for...Ordinary Boy With black-and-white illustrations throughout, this "celebration of the comics genre" (Kirkus) is perfect for readers who love the New York Times bestselling Captain Underpants series and Michael Buckley's New York Times bestselling NERDS series, as well as young fans of Marvel and DC Comics--and anyone who's ever longed to be super.
I have been reading this book to my son he is 7 1/2 and he loves it. As an adult I find it appealing because I never know where it will go next and this makes it unpredictable and fun to read. As I read it I smile, the adventures, the humor, the well written and easy to read style makes it hard to put the book down. I find that many childrens books hit the child "over the head" (with humor, grossness, scariness, whatever, etc.) in the mistaken belief that they won't "get it" otherwise. It doesn't talk down to children and yet the humor is subtle and engaging. I found the story to be engrossing and not too scary. Overall I think this book is great, I am looking forward to purchasing the other two in the series.

My 11-year-old read this book over a weekend. He raved about it. Yes - I said my 11-year-old SON raved about a book. It isn't easy to find books boys will like these days, especially after they've finished all their Harry Potters. I'll be getting #2 Ordinary Boy asap.
