To go face-to-face with this piece of software alone is certainly a daunting task, but The Essential Photoshop book lights the way through a clear passage to becoming a master in Photoshop. This book was borrowed from a library, but although I used a later version of Photoshop, the techniques described in the book are simply marvelous, comprehensable and applicable to either version.This book covers content at an intermediate level, with topics such as creative use of filters, masking & channels, retouching, graphics for web and print, the selection tools, and much more. This book is more of a technical all-around reference rather than a special effects cookbook with step-by-step techniques.(Although a few juicy ones are scattered throughout the book) Besides that, the main thing which makes this book stands out from others in the simplicity of it all. Mullin makes each paragraph and explaination sound simple, putting beginners at ease. I would recommend this to anyone who has interest in learning or advancing in Photoshop, whether you're a complete beginner, or even a seasoned professional.
