This book is a real life saver!

I bought this book because my girlfriend has Celiac and we were about to go on our first vacation together. It came just four days after I ordered it in plenty of time for our trip. This book was a real lifesaver allowing us to find safe places to eat not only at our destination but all along the way too! The descriptions for each restaurant are so clear and let you know exactly what to expect. I would recommend this book to anyone planning to go on a road trip or even looking for new places around you!

ESSENTIAL for anyone living Gluten-free!!

This 3rd edition of The Essential Gluten-free Restaurant Guide is bigger and better than ever! With thousands of safe gf restaurant listings around the country, this guide is a must have for anyone living gluten-free. So often, those on "special" diets are forced to eat at home, where they know exactly how the food has been prepared. Though safe, eating at home, day in, day out is extremely limiting socially, and perhaps most importantly, leaves one out of one of life's greatest pleasures: Trying new foods! Ethnic foods, good ol' American Southern cuisine, Steak Houses, you name it, it's in here! In addition to the extensive, thoroughly researched list of restaurants, I was particularly impressed by the "User's Guide", and the Checklist (a summary checklist detailing what one should do before you leave the house for a restaurant, and what to do once you get there). I was also thrilled to find Section III, an extensive chapter with Gluten-free lists and Menus. Bravo Triumph Dining!

One-of-a-Kind - Don't Leave Home Without It

This book does a fantastic job of providing gluten-free dining options across the U.S. and is a perfect reference to have on hand at home or when you're on the road. The listings are a great resource, as management at many of the restaurants have already been consulted and provide their advice to gluten-free customers. I strongly recommend this guide with no reservations for any celiacs out there who are tired of eating at home or at the same few restaurants all the time. Overall, an invaluable resource.

Allez-cuisine

If you or a family member needs to keep a gluten-free diet, you'll find this guide a handy way to avoid eating at the same restaurant every time or being stuck at home. The bulk of the book is its state-by-state listings of restaurants divided into categories ranging from 100% gluten-free, to those with special gluten-free menus or products available, to those that are familiar with the restriction and able to make accommodations. For the last category, the guide has done the legwork of contacting the management of many of the restaurants, whose advice on what dishes to order and whom to contact to get accommodations is included in the listings. Previously, I'd known of a handful of local restaurants geared towards gluten-free; this guide expands that selection with 23 gluten-free menus in the area and another dozen willing to adapt. An introductory chapter provides tips on working with those who don't have special menus so you can try more places with minimal hassle.

I could not live without!

I have 3 celiac members in my family - 2 sons and my husband. This book allows me to travel/vacation cross country. We keep one book in each car, my sons take one with them on athletic team weekends and I would not go on vacations (within US) without consulting first. It has been a blessing.

The Dark Side of Eating: When Diets Go Viral and Become Fads, Unintended Chaos Ensues
Published by Beth Clark • January 15, 2019

When diets developed for certain populations or conditions go viral and become fads overnight, unintended chaos can ensue and create challenging fallout for the originally intended group. It can feel like suddenly being surrounded by decoys and finding yourself in a bad TV game show called "Will the Real Celiac Please Stand Up?" We zeroed in on a few 'fad' diets that are actually lifestyles, including gluten-free, vegan, and keto, and came up with some interesting pros, cons, and effects of their mainstream surge in popularity. (And found some excellent guides, cookbooks, and other resources a lot of you will want to put in your carts!)
