Nancy Drew- the Eskimo's Secret, by Carolyn Keene, is a mystery story where Nancy Drew is trying to find her father, Carson Drew and the famous artwork, the "Tundra" which have disappeared. The "Tundra" is a very valuable Ivory carving by an Eskimo artist named Quinggoq. For years Franklin Cole, kept his eye on the "Tundra" and many other famous Eskimo carvings. To protect these pieces, they were hidden by Quinggoq, in the woods. The villagers of Seal Bay grew tired of Franklin Cole's manipulations to try to get these famous pieces of art. The villagers finally agreed to give Franklin Cole the "Tundra" if he would promise to leave the town. After Franklin Cole's death, his widow sold the "Tundra" to Clement Steele, the owner of an art gallery and uncle of one of Nancy Drew's best friends, Alana. One day, Alana calls Nancy Drew to tell her that the " Tundra" has turned up missing from her uncle's gallery. Right after the "Tundra" was stolen, Alana disappeared too. Nancy agrees to go help find Alana in Victoria, British Columbia. While visiting the art gallery there, Nancy is warned by a letter to give up the search for Alana and that Nancy was in great danger. Nancy's search turned up Alana unharmed with Quingggoq's grandson, Ben at the Firebird Lounge. Together, Alana, Ben, and Nancy put their detective minds together with clues from her dad's phone calls to figure out where her father and the "Tundra" and the two culprits, which were Jasper Cole and Felix Borge, might be. During one phone call, Nancy's dad says that the only way he can return is by having Nancy give Alana to Jasper Cole and Felix Borge. Cole and Borge think that Alana has the secret to the "Tundra" and the other hidden carvings. Nancy and Alana take a boat to an island where they think they will find Cole and Borge, Nancy's father and the" Tundra". On the island, they find the front door of a mansion unlocked. Nancy suspects her father is there. Once inside, Nancy was able to free her dad. Nancy, Alana, and Mr. Drew were able to tie up Felix Cole and Borge. Since Mr. Drew was had been with Cole and Borge for quite some time, he knew were the " Tundra" was. Nancy, Ben, Alana, and Mr. Drew escaped off of the island and took the "Tundra" safely back to the Steele Gallery. The villagers of Seal Bay were grateful that Nancy Drew had solved the case of The Eskimo's Secret by finding the "Tundra" with its clues to the other carvings. Nancy was grateful to have her friend Alana and father back safely too.
