I found this children's tale quite enchanting. The art is quite nice, but it was the narrative flow that worked so well. The words just rolled off my lips--I felt like a great storyteller, with rhythm and repetition, build-up and climax. I like the age-old wisdom of the story and the time it took to arrive at its poignant conclusion. A tale well told.
A most beautiful book

I bought this book for my daughter on her sixth birthday. It became the story of our love for each other. The Enchanter's Daughter sees through the riches and jewels and learning of her "father," with whom she lives all alone in a magnificent castle. One day, she asks where her mother is, and the Enchanter grows deathly pale. He knows, as do we, that the love of the girl for her mother will give her the courage and strength to leave him and find her. And so she does. Though her mother and brother are poor, she would rather live and work with them than stay as the petted possession of a rich and powerful man. The Enchanter's Daughter is a tale with great significance for many modern daughters. In addition, the illustrations are some of the most beautiful and intricate I have ever seen in a children's book. They are works of true artistry.
Review of The Enchanter's Daughter

This is a story about the young girl who is called daughter by her father. This father of hers is an enchantor and can create anything that his daughter wants. He creates a tropical island for her to live on, then a vast forest filled with animals but when she got tired of this he created a jungle. All of this was ok with the enchanter's daughter for a while but she soon became bored with each. When her father granted her wish of wanting many books she began to gain knowledge about a world that her father had never shown her. She realized she had a past and a real name other than daughter. Because her father would not tell her her true past she figured out a way to find it on her own. Using courage she found the life her father had sheltored her from. I enjoyed this book, it makes you use your imagination. I pictured a castle with jungle vines and monkeys in which the enchantor and his daughter lived. The picture that goes with each page is very detailed, colorful and interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about magic and fantasy.
