this book is a collection of classic mystery stories, by Lawrence Block, P.D James, Harlan Ellison, Frederick Forsyth, Stanley Elin, Evan Hunter, and several others. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a collection of about 20 mysteries, all runners-up for an Edgar Award. Some of them were yawners, but there were 3 or 4 really memorable stories in here. Not all of them were murder mysteries, and some of them weren't mysteries at all, which was slightly disappointing. My favorite was the last chapter - the foiled bank robbery. I give this collection 3.5 stars. I would probably buy another collection like this, from the Edgar committee.
