An Eagle Court of Honor has many parallels to a wedding, with the exception that the BSA does not allow the option of elopement. My own son would have preferred to have done it through the mail ! Actually, the ceremony is a reaffirmation of Scouting and the very basic values it represents. Ray's book does a real service of sorting out fact from fiction, and provides ideas for a range of ceremonies that range from basic to elaborate. Some of the material is original, some is available on the web. For something like $ 10.00, you can save a ton of time and frustration. If I had another son, I would rather do without the internet and have a copy of this book !
Excellent Resource for Court of Honor's

For my son's Court of Honor, I did extensive research using the internet. Then I discovered - The Eagle Scout Court of Honor Handbook. It is an excellent resource and contains most everything you will find on the internet. I found the timeline developed for how far in advance you need to plan and do certain tasks very valuable. I have been to many Eagle Court of Honor ceremonies, but I really liked being able to read through the various ceremonies to pick and choose what I wanted for my own son's ceremony. I highly recommend this book for any Mother planning her son's ceremony, or to any Troop as a planning resource.
A must have for any future Eagle Scout !

This book is a must have for any scout, parent, or scoutmaster that is going to be planning an Eagle Court of Honor. Our troop is 10 years old, but this the first Eagle we have had and we really did not know where to start. So we started with this book. I especially like the various examples that the author gives for each phase of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Each part of the book gives you different suggestions to fit the type of ceremony you and your Eagle want to plan. I will be donating this book to my son's troop as soon as our ceremony is complete so that future Eagle candidates can read it.
Wonderful Resource

This book is a great resource for those who are new to planning Eagle Court of Honors, or for those who want to add something a little different than the rote items they normally do. I purchased copies for myself, our scoutmaster, and our advancement chairperson. When the scoutmaster of a neighboring troop needed help with her son's eagle ceremony, I gladly gave her my copy, knowing it was a wonderfull resource. (I then purchased another copy for myself!)I believe THAT speaks for the quality and usefullness of this book.
Help Your Eagle Soar

Lots of great ideas. With several recent Eagle Courts of Honor in our troop, this book helped my son design a ceremony that was unique and meaningful. The opening ceremony (an explanation of scouting by John Wayne) and the Eagle presentation ceremony both came from the book. A wonderful quotation from Theodore Roosevelt, which he found in the "quotes" chapter, was used on the opening page of the program. I found the "things to do" checklist especially helpful. "The Eagle Court of Honor Book" is an invaluable tool for any scout troop, with lots of practical ideas that can be incorporated into a variety of ceremonies, from the most simple to the most grand. I highly recommend it.
