Stanislaw Andriuskevicius a disgraced member of the noble Andruszkiewicz family of Poland forced to keep the Lithuanian spelling of his last name to differentiate him from the Polish members of his family. He is sentenced to do this for his Vitebsk family's part in the Radziwill Rebellion against the Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuania. He offered his services as a commander to the Duke of Kurland. This led eventually his becoming captain of a Kurland 'Man of War' ship.
