dracula book of great vampire stories

The best story was "Carmilla". The ending was predictable, as most are. "Mrs. Amworth" and "Dracula's Guest" wer also very good. Some of the weakest story was "Four Wooden Stakes". Overall, it's good for the price.

An anthology of older vampire tales, and a well put together one. Certainly quite a few of the better and more ineresting variety to be found here. This group of stories just about averages 3.50, so pretty well picked from the older crowd. A GREAT COLLECTION

This collection of vampire stories brings together 13 stories that were published in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Lesser known but by no means inferior authors join familiar authors like Bram Stoker and Sheridan Le Fanu. The stories begin with an imaginatively illustrated first letter. For example, Carmilla has a Gothic letter "C" that towers above the print and is decorated with flows and small figures thus setting the tone for the story. It is interesting the "the Horla" by Maupassant was included here. It is usually considered more of a ghost story. The remaining works are atmospheric and creepy. In short, a well-considered selection of stories that will please vampire lovers everywhere.
