The Perfect Book for a Crazy Life!

Deliciously addictive! I absolutely loved The Dog Ate My Planner and quite literally had to tear myself away from reading it to do things that needed to be done. Pat Snyder has such a magnificent sense of humor and excellent way of looking at life, that you can't help but fall in love with both her and her book. To be wholly honest, as I read The Dog Ate My Planner, I felt as though Ms. Snyder knew me personally and was writing about aspects of myself and my life. It was a bit amazing and eye-opening, let me tell you! The Dog Ate My Planner is divided into main chapter categories, which are then broken down into sub-categories. Each of these are short, to the point, and often times laugh-out-loud funny. The final page in each chapter is a summary of sorts, which states what topic was talked about and final feelings on that topic. Again, eye-opening and humorous. I especially loved all of the "e" talk and could completely relate. Those who have "grand-animals" will connect with Ms. Snyder's tales of her "grand-dog" and those who have children will delight in the commonplace daily occurrences that go along with this joyful treat called parenthood. Everyone faces stress, decisions, dilemmas, daily difficulties and just the step-by-step wonders of life. The Dog Ate My Planner helps people to look at those things in a different way, adds a dose of humor and realize that you are not alone and it's okay not to be perfect. I wanted to share a couple of my favorite topics/chapters. "De-Stress with a Sigh of Relief" makes me chuckle and reminded me so much of my husbands philosophy of 'think the worst and when it doesn't go like you want, you won't be disappointed' I have to say that this drives me crazy!! In this lesson of Ms. Snyder's, she tells of the best way that she deals with stress, and that is to be a catastrophizer. In other words think of the worst case scenario and things will (hopefully) not seem so bad. In another section "Stalking Stuffing Stress Still Stalks Me (how can you not love that title?!) the author talks of her pursuit of the perfect stocking stuffers each year. Since it is the holiday season and I have two children of my own, I can completely relate to everything she mentions in here. This actually happens to be the case in much of what Pat Snyder writes about in The Dog Ate My Planner. It is because of this that I truly feel that this is a book that any and everyone can easily relate to and I guarantee you will laugh repeatedly. The Dog Ate My Planner is a unique, highly engrossing and just plain the most fun book to read. I truly have to highly recommend this to everyone and what a perfect gift for even the hardest to shop for person!!! I dare you to not laugh as you race through the pages and revisit sections again and again!
A humorous delight for the time-strapped reader in all of us

This book has a breezy style that gives tips on managing a busy life. By providing personal examples and vignettes, the author gives an easy-to-read approach to being organized with plenty of humor throughout. The first chapter was one of my favorites as it looked at the time required for all the time-saving gadgets out there, from Palm Pilots to GPS units. Most of the vignettes within each chapter are told within only two pages, a perfect read for a coffee break. If things feel hectic, find the time for this fun book. It's well worth it.
