If you're googling, the full name of this book is The Dictionary of Biographical Quotations. It's too bad specialized quotation books like this don't stay in print very long. This is a massive compendium, with double columns in tiny type of in-depth quotations about deceased British and American personages. The only really glaring omission, IMO at least, is that of Eamon de Valera. (Hey, he was born in Manhattan!) So often, collections of biographical quotations are mere hodge-podges of one-liners and insults. This book is a solid reference work, and should be purchased by anyone with a love for this sort of thing. The age of the book, 1978, is not a drawback since the subjects are all historical, and indeed many of the sources are rather obscure.Note: The publisher of the edition I have is Routledge & Kegan Paul, not Random House as indicated above.
